We are proud to offer extern and post-doctoral training programs, as well as employment opportunities for licensed clinicians. See below for details.
Externship Training Program
Maryland OCD and Anxiety Therapy is pleased to announce its Clinical Psychology externship training program for the 2025/2026 academic year. Maryland OCD and Anxiety Therapy is recognized as a leader in the treatment of OCD-related disorders and anxiety disorders in the DMV area.
Program Description
The externship program involves a weekly time commitment of approximately 16 hours, including 6 to 8 hours per week of direct clinical services. The extern will be predominately responsible for delivering outpatient individual psychotherapy to adolescent and adult clinical populations. While our clients seek treatment for a variety of presenting concerns, the majority of our clients are seeking care for anxiety disorders and OCD-related disorders. Opportunities may also be available to participate in delivering accelerated treatment, which will involve multiple points of contact per week divided among a collaborative team of clinicians. Services will be predominately delivered via telehealth, though we do offer opportunities to deliver in-person psychotherapy and to complete in vivo exposure therapy.
Supervision Services
Supervision of cases will be provided in accordance with school requirements, which includes a minimum of one (1) hour of individual supervision, one (1) hour of group supervision, and one (1) hour of monthly didactic training for the duration of the academic year. Students will be asked to present at least one didactic to the group during the year, the topic of which will be mutually decided with their supervisor. All supervision will be completed by a licensed clinical psychologist.
Application Process
The externship is open to doctoral students in APA-approved clinical psychology training programs. We welcome any applicant to apply who has completed a minimum of two years of doctoral course work prior to beginning the externship, including at least one course in cognitive-behavioral therapy, and has had supervised experience delivering cognitive-behavioral treatment.
Interested students should submit a cover letter, resume/vita, and two (2) letters of recommendation. Applications should be received by February 3, 2025 and emailed to kyoung@mdocd.com
Interviews will be held virtually during the weeks of February 10th and 17th. We will be adhering to the Call Day protocol on March 7, 2025.
Post-Doctoral Fellowship
M.O.A.T. offers a post-doctorate experience for clinicians looking to develop a specialty in exposure-based therapy for anxiety and OCD-related disorders. Post-docs will also have opportunity to help those with body focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs) overcome compulsive hair pulling and skin picking.
Post-doctoral fellows will provide individual therapy to adolescents and adults (the breakdown of the ages treated can be mutually negotiated depending on the applicant’s interests). If interested, there may be occasional opportunities to conduct and receive training on cognitive, personality, and/or psychodiagnostic assessments. You would be expected to provide a minimum 20 hours per week of client facing services. The remainder of time will be for receiving individual supervision, administrative paperwork (e.g., note writing), managing intake screenings as a part of a rotation with the other practitioners, and receiving didactic instruction. Additionally, there may be some opportunities to participate in speaking engagements or community outreach.
Currently M.O.A.T. provides hybrid telehealth and in-person services at the Columbia, MD office.
Individual supervision and didactic instruction will be provided by all three psychologists (Drs. Yood, Young, and Lent) as a part of a comprehensive experience designed to provide access to a diversity of clinical approaches and styles (exposure, ACT, DBT, FAP, etc) within a third wave cognitive behavioral theoretical framework. Case loads will be divided between the supervisors.
If the interest is mutual, the position may graduate to full time employment at its completion.
As we are a burgeoning private practice, there may be opportunities to receive coaching on the business side of running a mental health practice if you have an interest in starting your own someday.
M.O.A.T. is looking for clinicians who are passionate about the treatment of anxiety and OCD-related disorders. If you are interested in joining our practice, contact us at info@mdocd.com with a cover letter and CV, or call us 410-907-7303 to learn more.
